Product Designers are an odd breed as they must find the balance of conceptual and reality thinking, have technical skills in both digital and physical making while staying fully aware of user context, materials, sustainability, manufacturing, cost and most importantly, innovation.
Rare is it to find a designer who can keep all these elements in motion with the intuitiveness which requires focus without sacrificing the importance of other elements. The ability to multi-task while overseeing a team and never loosing the end goal of an outstanding outcome.
I have often referred to Forrest Radford as ‘the Spock of Design’ as he can see the whole process but also understand all the micro-nuances that leads to great product design.

My professional relationship with Forrest first started when I pitched my services to a company he was running. From the outside looking in, I fully expected there to be a team of people behind this business. High quality product imagery, exceptional e-commerce, email marketing, copy, branding, videos, packaging, logistics, adverts, customer support and more… All of it done solely by Forrest… I was blown away.
We ended up working together based on my pitch, and despite his self profession of not being an expert in my field, he could have fooled me. In the years since I first met Forrest I still am blown away; the volume, execution and quality of work he’s able to deliver on his projects is sometimes hard to comprehend.
